I sought out personal training and nutrition coaching this past summer looking for some help moving away from nutrition and training habits I knew weren’t serving me well.

After spending much of the past ten years moving between different training programs and different diets, I realized that I was tired of putting so much energy into spinning my wheels and not seeing changes in my strength or body composition. I found myself often frustrated with a lack of progress, and knew that I needed direction but I didn’t know what I needed.

I have worked with personal trainers and coaches before. I have been handed macro plans and meal plans and implemented them perfectly… for a couple months before becoming exhausted and dropping it completely.

Never before working with Jereymi did I experience coaching that took a holistic approach to health and nutrition. I left my first nutrition conversation feeling stunned. Jereymi asked questions that forced me to step back and take a look at how dieting had impacted my life and my family, and had me examining the beliefs I still had about what were “good and bad” foods. The goals we set were game changing for me, and yet very easy to implement immediately. Jereymi was able to meet me exactly where I was at, and as the weeks went on he helped me set small habit goals to add to the ones I was already successfully doing. The result after three months was that I was eating easily twice as much as I had been before, and had more energy than I had in a long time. He has a unique skill of asking questions and providing insights that helped me get out of my diet cycle, which has improved my quality of life and given me freedom to do things like go for dinner with my husband and kids, without worrying about how it is “ruining my progress” .

I have also been training with Jeryemi weekly. I showed up thinking that I knew what I was doing in the gym, yet I think I said “that was humbling” about 10x per session in the beginning. Jeryemi is helping me correct strength imbalances, and activate muscles I didn’t realize weren’t working. The result has been major strength gains in my own training. I quickly blew past all of my old PRs in some lifts, and in the areas I am still stuck, we are working each week on correcting the movement so that I can bring these skills into my training.

I encourage anyone who wants to make changes to their lifestyle to seek out Jereymi for coaching. The biggest takeaways for me are that I don’t feel deprived, yet I’m changing my body composition. I don’t feel exhausted, yet I’m making progress in the gym. And in the midst of it I am being supported to grow as a whole person.

I am immensely grateful to Jereymi for his knowledge, and his skill in helping me push past my own barriers to see real, ustainable change.

I am hesitant to write this….not because working with @upnorthathletics on my nutrition has not been successful. I am reticent to write this out because words cannot convey the changes I have seen & am still seeing. Words alone do not amply explain how valuable @jereymilongpre communication, expertise & knowledge has been for my journey.

Having worked in the fitness industry. I had a general knowledge base in basic nutrition. In the past I competed in Power Lifting, Femsport, body building & long & short distance running & triathlons. My nutrition has been very interesting. Top this off with being obese up until my late 20’s. I had knowledge weighed down with a lot of emotional baggage.

I have been working with Jereymi at the Fitness Lab for over a year now and have seen many positive changes in my life. I came into the fitness lab struggling with my weight, self image/esteem, and a few health concerns, with no clue as to what to do next. Over the past few months I have started to see progress with my weight loss, so far over 50 lbs. More importantly gaining a healthier relationship and understanding of movement and nutrition. A few of my medical concerns have also been eliminated due to the consistent activity and proper nutrition. The biggest change was my blood sugar being lowered and no longer being “prediabetic” or at risk.
I have struggled with having a healthier lifestyle for several years, and what has been the most helpful during this process is the information, guidance, understanding and coaching that has been provided along the way.

I have been going to the @thefitnesslab for about 4 years now and I’m so thankful for having @fitlikevik and @jereymilongpre as my trainers. Jereymi has helped me a lot with nutrition and gaining weight throughout the offseason and Vik was always the one that pushed me to my limits in the gym and got me in the best shape before hockey season started up again. I wouldn’t recommend anyone else as my trainers. If any of you guys need a place to workout or have any nutrition/fitness goals you want to accomplish I would definitely shoot these guys a text.

“As someone who has always been fairly active, I was looking at ways to push myself and step up my game. I reached out to @jereymilongpre from the @thefitnesslab.ca for help with my nutrition hoping to lose a bit of fat, but mainly to gain muscle and lean out. After sitting down with Jereymi and discussing my goals, he came up with a easy and attainable plan for me and wanted me to introduce some weights into my routine. I have never enjoyed lifting weights but started to do Jereymi’s strength routines. After several weeks of following his nutrition, and lifting weights twice a week, I could feel my body getting stronger and healthier. Three months in- I can see the results which really encourages me to work even harder. I can now say that I really enjoy lifting weights and they have become an integral part of my workout regime.
Throughout my three month program, Jereymi did daily and weekly checkins and was always extremely helpful and knowledgeable with any questions that I had. I learned a ton about weight lifting and the benefits that muscle gain has on your body. He’s extremely knowledgeable about nutrition, supplements, weight loss and muscle development. “If there’s a diet, I’ve likely tried it in my past. Years 2007-2010 were horrific for me: my mom died, I had 2 ankle surgeries, and ACL reconstructive surgery… that lead to emotional eating, an unhealthy relationship with food, and 45lbs slowly creeping on as the years passed by. I share that because I think it’s important that people know it’s common to struggle with food – but more importantly, it’s okay to talk about it. April 2020 I decided I was sick and tired of feeling ‘sick and tired’. Always feeling lethargic, terrible sleep pattern, unmonitored stress, and using food as an outlet needed to stop. I upped my workout regime and committed to a fitness lab membership, but more importantly I started to work with @jereymilongpre on my nutrition. What shocked me most was the first few weeks we weren’t concerned about calories in vs. out, but he was asking about my quality of sleep, water intake, mental health, stress levels, how I was doing, etc. Most ‘diets’ I had tried before had me eating 1500-1600 calories and working out 5-6x per week to see success. Jereymi WANTED me eating 2000+ calories per day and working out 3-4x per week MAX. I won’t lie, I thought he was crazy and trying some new age voodoo that wasn’t gonna work. But, as promised, I stuck it out and slowly (keyword: slowly) the weight started to melt off. In the last 6 months I’ve lost 25lb and I’d estimate I’ve ‘tracked macros’ maybe 30% of the time? Our focus was getting me eating whole foods, proper protein amounts, fresh veggies and most importantly – no quick gimmicks. I spent the summer not feeling an ounce of guilt towards eating whatever I wanted! Never felt that I needed to workout extra to ‘earn more food’.. that mindset is gone and I never want it back. No shake, pill, or cream to burn away the fat, but good ol’ fashioned hard work. I’m so thankful for @fitlikevik and Jereymi, and for their endless encouragement and support throughout this process! Excited to see what’s still to come”

Upon meeting with @jereymilongpre from @thefitnesslab.ca we went over my eating habits, foods I usually ate, the times when I ate, etc. I kept thinking why does this matter? Give me a meal plan and I will execute it. That is what I was used to. But Jereymi didn’t budge. We logged my foods, and then began changing my habits. Jereymi never measured/calculated my calories because he didn’t believe in doing that right away in my case. He focused on me eating whole foods, clean foods, and making sure I was fueling my body with enough nutrients. This was all new to me. I was so used to solely focusing on a calorie number to see change. This was a completely different approach. Jereymi focused on getting to the underlying issues, which were my habits, and wanted to create something more sustainable. He recognized my yo-yo tendancies, and didn’t want to repeat what I had been doing for the last 5 years. So Jereymi made me a plan where I was eating 2 meals and 2 shakes per day. I was hesitant at first, I kept thinking how will I lose weight if I’m eating so much. I questioned him lots because I didn’t understand it. Jereymi took the time to explain things to me, sending me videos, articles, and answering all my questions. I trusted him, and it began to pay off. He helped me understand nutrition at a much deeper level. I wasn’t starving myself like I was used to, in fact I was actually always quite full and still losing weight and seeing my body change. This blew me away. There were no cravings, no gulity feelings, and no binge eating. Jereymi’s approach incorporated foods I liked, allowed for “fun” foods (not cheat days) and ultimately has been sustainable.

WOW what I can say about Vik and the Fitness lab. I started with Vik in the fall of 2018 with two of my co-workers. At first I must admit I was very intimidated and scared of what to expect. Vik made me feel at ease right off the hop. His training methods, knowledge and most importantly his personality allowed to me to keep coming back three days/week and now in 2019, five days a week. Most impressive is his knowledge and training methods allowing me to achieve my goals with out the stigma of a public gym. His use of technology gave me qualitative results, I have lost 5 inches from stomach and lost 6% body fat overall without feeling like I worked out as his workouts are fun and interactive. After many failed self managed diets and exercise plans, I decided to contact The Fitness Lab. I am not a “fitness person” at all so I was expecting that I’d go for a couple of weeks and then lose interest. Luckily they do not impose any contracts, which made it very low risk to join… I was completely wrong with that whole attitude though, because now it is nearly five months later and I’m still attending classes and genuinely having a great time during every one that I attend. The entire staff are fantastic, and they make sure that classes are interesting and different each time – which makes the time fly by. Not just the hour long session time, but the overall time since September when I joined. As a result there’s been nothing daunting about trying to get in to shape. I’m so preoccupied by the experience and new skills that I’m learning – and actually enjoying the company of a solid peer group – that I’m not obsessing over losing this many pounds, or burning that many calories. When I do notice an improvement, like a slightly lower scale number, a smaller clothing size, or the ability to lift a heavier weight, it’s a really nice surprise. And now that I’m physically adjusted to a regular exercise schedule, those improvements are occurring more frequently. That works great for me right now. Might I want to set some actual weight and fitness goals in future? Quite possibly. And when I’m ready to do so, I know that The Fitness Lab team will be able to help me achieve them. I couldn’t be happier with my choice to join.

I love this gym. Over the course of a few years I’ve always struggled with working out and losing weight. I came across the Fitness Lab and realized that this is exactly the gym I’ve been looking for! A friend of mine recommended that I try out the Fitness Lab. I was very hesitant at first because I’ve had a few bad experiences with other group classes. Nonetheless, I gave it a shot and I couldn’t be more happy with my decision. The first moment I walked into the gym I was greeted with a warm welcome and friendly faces. This gym has got to be the least intimidating fitness facility I’ve ever stepped foot in, and on top of that the trainers accommodate to all fitness levels. For a beginner like myself, I really appreciate it when the trainers, such as Vik, come by during a particular exercise and help me correct my form or answer any of my questions. The Fitness Lab is a judgment free place and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for fun and satisfying workouts!

I go to the classes at Fitness Lab and am so happy with my choice – honestly it doesn’t matter which class it is, I am certain that one class with FL = 3 gym sessions on my own. The classes are always different but you can tell that they are well planned out to incorporate something for each muscle group. The energy the trainers have is contagious and really makes you push yourself – something I always struggle with when working out on my own. We are a Fitness Facility for everyone. We offer a non-intimidating environment with workouts designed and scheduled for everyone. Our classes are the best in metabolic conditioning- meaning burning calories and building muscle is what we do best.

All classes are easily modified to your needs, and we are able to adjust your workouts for injury and ability if needed. All our coaches are Certified Personal Trainers so knowledge and Professionalism are unmatched.

We work to cover a full body workout for you during your session, as balance is key for your workouts and to keep your body conditioning at its peak.

All our Training is provided in a private studio environment where everyone has like goals. Our personal training, nutrition and online programs all use the finest in technology.
